Within these highly specialized companies, there is a wide variety of IT automation needs that can initially seem too opposed to be compatible.
The problem is that economic-based and regulatory-based systems are very different, and don’t easily handle one another’s requirements. The frustrations with compromises that don’t quite satisfy or comply can cause serious internal conflicts, as well as violations in CFR operation.
A solution to this dilemma is an Application Program Interface (API). A well-developed, real-time API will transfer and possibly exchange data from one application to another. This makes sense for two reasons: individual IT application developers are most effective in their own specific area of expertise, and there are considerable benefits to a firm in organized coordination of these apps.
Here are some of the benefits of an API:
- Enhanced availability of critical data at impact point for better decisions and operations.
- Elimination of manual workarounds for improved efficiency.
- Elimination of “skunkwork” homegrown system maintenance.
- Ability to progressively upgrade individual applications to state-of-the-art (“best-of-breed stacking” in IT speak) for better individual application performance.
- End of “silos of information” for improved company communication and overall business effectiveness.
As with the construction of a physical bridge, an API is a design challenge requiring a clear understanding of the proposed data traffic and the tools and expertise to create and support it.
At InstantGMP, we see the resolution of integration issues as key to the regulated industries we serve. That’s why we are proud to announce our own API and the team that will work with you to make it work for you. It will securely connect our CFR-based systems to corporate ERP, CRM, Supply Chain, Warehousing, and a host of other dedicated applications.
